We’re excited to announce a set of enhancements that focus on making our platform more accessible, streamlining content management, and improving communication between faculty and students.

Supporting Student Needs with Personalized Time Accommodations

Medical education should be accessible to all capable students, and we understand that some learners may require additional time to demonstrate their knowledge effectively. Our new time accommodation system in Qmax empowers schools to provide personalized support while maintaining consistent assessment standards, particularly for students preparing for exams and their boards.

Faculty members can now set individual time accommodations for students through the Organization Roster page. These accommodations—available in 1.5x, 2.0x, or 3.0x multipliers—automatically apply to all faculty-created timed tests, ensuring consistency and reducing administrative overhead. Once set, the accommodation becomes part of the student’s profile, eliminating the need to adjust settings for each new assessment.

Setting time accommodations in Qmax Management

This systematic approach helps institutions:

  • Maintain compliance with accessibility requirements
  • Ensure consistent application of accommodations
  • Reduce administrative burden on faculty
  • Support students more effectively

Enhanced Communication with Automated Test Notifications

We’ve also implemented an automated email notification system for faculty-created tests. The system sends notifications 48 hours before scheduled test times, giving students adequate preparation time while remaining flexible enough to handle schedule changes.

These notifications include:

  • Test details and format
  • Mode (timed, untimed, or tutor)
  • Direct access links
  • Start and end times in the student’s local time zone

For tests scheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice, notifications are sent immediately upon test creation. The system also sends updated notifications if a test is modified and republished, ensuring students always have the latest information.

Improved Question Management in Qmax Create

We’ve also upgraded our Qmax Create platform, enhancing content attribution and version control to support the development of high-quality assessment items.

Enhanced Author Attribution

Recognizing the importance of faculty contribution in academic settings, we’ve implemented a new author attribution system. Questions now display the original author’s name on the My Questions page, maintaining this attribution even when the question is revised by others. This feature:

  • Recognizes content creators
  • Facilitates quality tracking
  • Supports academic accountability
  • Helps institutions track faculty contributions

Streamlined Version Control

We’ve introduced more flexible version control for questions in development. Authors can now delete question versions that are in Approval status and have never been published. When a version is deleted, its number becomes available for reuse, maintaining sequential version numbering for better organization.

For example, if version 12345.2 is deleted, a new version created from 12345.1 will reuse the 12345.2 designation. This ensures version numbers remain chronological and logical in the database, simplifying reporting and content management.

Let us know what you think of these updates!  Reach out at info@scholarrx.com.

We’re excited to announce a major update to ScholarRx’s group management capabilities, designed to make organizing and managing student and faculty groups more efficient. This update streamlines how faculty manage both student and faculty groups, offering new tools for collaboration and assessment management.

What’s New?

Centralized Group Management

The new Group Management feature in Stats & Analytics provides a single, intuitive interface for managing all your groups. Faculty can now:

  • Create and manage both student and faculty groups from one location
  • View system-generated and user-created groups in a clear, organized interface
  • Track group membership and activities more effectively

Flexible User Management

We’ve introduced multiple ways to manage group membership:

  • Bulk assignment for adding multiple users efficiently
  • Intuitive drag-and-drop functionality
  • Shareable invite links for easy group enrollment

Improved Synchronization

Changes made in the Stats & Analytics application now automatically sync with Qmax Management, ensuring consistency across the platform. This means less time managing multiple systems and more time focusing on education.

Why This Matters

Whether you’re organizing clinical rotations, creating study groups, or coordinating with faculty colleagues, these new features make it easier to:

  • Structure your educational activities
  • Manage assessments for different student groups
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members
  • Track student performance across various contexts

Getting Started

The new Group Management features are available now as a beta feature. To access them:

  1. Log in to the Stats & Analytics application
  2. Enable Beta Features from your profile
  3. Look for “Manage Groups” in the left navigation menu

Check out the video for a quick walk-through.

Looking Ahead

This update is part of our ongoing commitment to improving the educational experience for both faculty and students. We’ll continue to refine and enhance these features based on your feedback.

We’re excited to announce a comprehensive update to our Immunology collection in Rx Bricks. This new edition represents a significant evolution in how we present immunology, incorporating the latest medical terminology, expanding our coverage of critical topics, and featuring completely revamped illustrations throughout the collection.

What’s New in the Immunology Collection?

Enhanced Visual and Interactive Learning Experience

One of the most exciting aspects of this update is the comprehensive enhancement of our visual and interactive elements. We’ve refreshed virtually all immunology-specific figures throughout the collection, ensuring that complex concepts are illustrated with greater clarity and precision than ever before. Additionally, we’ve strengthened our active learning components with improved interactive questions and added more images to our flashcards, creating a more engaging and effective study experience.

Innate immunity and adaptive immunity

New Content Areas

Our collection now includes dedicated bricks covering autoinflammatory diseases and diagnostic laboratory immunology, giving students essential practical knowledge they’ll need in clinical settings. We’ve also added a comprehensive new brick on immunodeficiency disorders titled “Immunodeficiency Disorders: Putting It All Together,” which guides students through the systematic evaluation of patients suspected of having immunodeficiency.

Updated Terminology and Classifications

To align with current medical nomenclature, we’ve made several important updates:

  • B and T cell disorders are now classified as “Disorders of Humoral and Cell-Mediated Immunity”
  • The Phagocyte Dysfunction brick has been expanded and renamed to “Disorders of Innate Immunity,” now including detailed coverage of leukocyte adhesion defects (LAD)
  • Complement disorders have been given their own dedicated brick, separate from the main Complement content, allowing for more in-depth coverage

Enhanced Treatment Coverage

Understanding the rapidly evolving landscape of immunological treatments is crucial for modern medical practice. We’ve significantly expanded our coverage of therapeutic options:

  • The immunosuppressants content has been thoroughly updated and split into two distinct bricks: “Immunosuppressants” and “Biologic Agents”
  • Enhanced coverage of novel biologics provides students with the latest information on cutting-edge treatments

New Sequestered Questions Coming Soon

To complement the updated collection, we’re excited to announce that new Rx Bricks Assessment Bank questions for the Immunology collection will be launching this spring. These carefully crafted questions will help students test their understanding and apply their knowledge of the updated immunology content, which you can deliver through ExamSoft.

Why These Updates Matter

These updates reflect our commitment to providing medical students with the most current, clinically relevant content possible. By aligning our terminology with current medical standards, expanding our coverage of critical topics, and enhancing our visual learning tools, we ensure that students are well-prepared for their exams and future clinical practice.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance our educational resources to meet the evolving needs of medical education.

You may be familiar with the Brick Create Collaboration feature (or the idea of it) that allows the owner of a Brick to grant editing permissions to others, which is a step beyond the multi-author function that provides read-only access. Bricks Collaboration enables collaborative editing, empowering multiple contributors to shape the content of a Brick sequentially.

Important Note: When a collaborative user is modifying a Brick, the Brick will be locked to avoid editing conflicts with other co-authors.

To add new users to a Brick and grant them editing permissions, please perform the following steps:

1. Open the Brick and click the credit line.

*The ‘Authors & Contributors’ modal will display and provide a method to search for a user by first/last name or email. Any person who has a ScholarRx account may be added as a collaborator; the school or organization can be different from the author’s school or organization*

2. Choose the desired user, select ” Can edit,” and click ” Save Changes.”

*Users granted editing access as Brick Collaborators will be notified via email, including a link to the Brick, informing them of their collaborator status. After being added as an editor, the Brick will display on the user’s ‘My Bricks’ page under a newly created ‘Collaborative Bricks’ tab.

Messages You May See When Collaborating

Currently Editing

When another editor edits the Brick, the Brick is locked, and the following message is displayed. This is intentional to prevent editing conflicts.

Read Only Mode

When another editor is editing, the Brick can still be opened in ‘read-only’ mode, but the user will see this message:

Inactivity Warning

When a collaborator has a Brick open but hasn’t recorded any activity in the last ten minutes, the ‘Inactivity Warning’ displays. Don’t worry – their work will be automatically saved!

Lock Removal

After an additional five minutes of inactivity, all work is saved, and the Brick is closed, which removes the ‘lock’ on the Brick and allows another editor to access it.

Publishing a Collaborative Brick

Anyone added as an editor can publish the Brick and choose to list it publicly. It will be associated with the school/organization of the Brick owner and added to their ‘My Organization’ page if the Brick is listed. It will not be added to the ‘My Organization’ page of other editors, but it will be added to their ‘My Bricks’ page.

AI Integration: Empowering Educators, Enhancing Learning

ScholarRx has integrated AI into Bricks Create. We hope you find the AI useful as you continue to create active learning experiences inside and outside your classrooms.

Question & Flash Card Generation

The Basic Blocks menu includes a ‘Generate Content’ section when the Bricks Create beta features are enabled. Beneath this section, two options utilize AI to quickly create questions or flash cards based on the content immediately above the insertion point.

To generate a question or a flash card with AI, please perform the following steps:

  1. Place your cursor where the question or flash card will be inserted
  2. Open the basic block menu and select the ‘Question’ or ‘Flash Card’ option. It will then be inserted.

Newly enhanced flashcards and questions for faculty creating Rx Bricks.

You can modify, build upon, or delete any of this content before publishing your Brick.

Learning Objectives & Summary

AI can also be used to generate Learning Objectives and Summary points.

To create Learning Objectives or Summary points, please perform the following steps:

1. Place your cursor in either the Learning Objectives or Summary sections & click the ‘Generate with AI’ option.

2. The AI assistant creates Learning Objectives or Summary points based on the content of the Brick. If you’d like to, you can add additional information to guide the assistant.

3. Click ‘Generate.’ When complete, you can replace what is already there, add to it, or dismiss what was created by AI. All content can be edited once it has been added to the Brick.

When creating a new Brick using either of these options, you must add a minimum of five paragraphs before you can see the AI tool in the Learning Objectives and Summary sections.

Feature Enhancements: Streamlining the ScholarRx Experience

While we’re always trying to create new products to make your teaching more effortless, we also prioritize enhancing and updating existing features to enrich your experience. Let’s take a closer look at those feature enhancements.

Brick Analytics Enhances Learning and Supports Struggling Students

Our latest feature, Brick Analytics, will transform how faculty and administrators approach student learning and support. This innovative tool promises to enrich the learning experience and identify and assist struggling medical students, ensuring no aspiring physician is left behind.

Tracking Progress Like Never Before

One of the most significant advantages of Brick Analytics is its ability to track student progress effortlessly. Faculty members can now gauge how many students have read the assigned Brick, how many have answered questions, and more, all with a single click. This real-time tracking feature eliminates the days of giving readings and wondering if anyone completed them.

Enhanced Visibility

The days of uncertainty about student engagement are over. With Brick Analytics, faculty and administrators can readily see if students are keeping up with assignments and how well they perform. This increased visibility into student progress allows educators to tailor their teaching methods to meet their students' needs effectively.

Insightful Data for Targeted Teaching

Taking it one step further, Brick Analytics goes beyond tracking and provides invaluable insights into student comprehension. Educators can now assess whether students understand the assigned material, eliminating the guesswork around competencies. This feature is a game-changer for instructors who want to ensure their students are adequately prepared for their future medical careers or even the lecture they’re about to deliver.

Supporting Struggling Students

Beyond its educational benefits, Brick Analytics profoundly impacts identifying and supporting struggling medical students. By monitoring student engagement and performance, faculty and administrators can proactively identify individuals facing challenges in their studies.

This early intervention is crucial in preventing talented students from abandoning their dreams due to academic difficulties. Faculty members can reach out to struggling students, offer support, and connect them with resources such as tutoring, counseling, or study groups. This proactive approach fosters a culture of inclusivity and ensures that no one is left behind.

Try Analytics Today

Brick Analytics is not just a tool; it's a transformative force in medical education. It empowers faculty and administrators to track, analyze, and support their students effectively.
